A Day at Ditcham Dragonflies Nursery!

Updated: Dec 5

When I get to nursery, the adults are always so happy to see me, and they give me big smiles! My grownup helps me tell them all about my evening, what I had for breakfast, and how I’m feeling today. Sometimes, I even tell them all by myself! Then, I find my peg with my picture on it and hang up my bag and coat—it makes me feel so grown-up. After I say goodbye to my grownup, I rush off to see my friends and explore all the fun activities set up for us. Sometimes I get so excited, I have to run back to give cuddles and kisses before they go!

A day at dragonflies

After I’ve had some time to explore or get out my favourite toys, we all sit together to sing our good morning song. We say hello to our adults and our friends, and some days, if I’m feeling brave, I tell everyone how I’m feeling.

If I feel hungry, I wash my hands and sit at the table with my friends for snack, I love having my own cup of milk, and sometimes I even go back for seconds!

The adults always have exciting activities planned, and they let us choose what we want to do. I can play inside or outside, but I always love going to the garden! On some days, we go to the big school for drama, music, or P.E., it’s so much fun walking around the big school. The older children and teachers always say hello, and if I’m lucky, I might even see my brother or sister for a hug!

We spend lots of time outside, it’s my favourite part of the day. The adults help me get ready in my nursery wellies and my all-in-one suit, I get to play in all weathers. We go on forest walks, climbing, running, and sometimes we spot boats on the sea. I love going on outdoor adventures, I can spot the sheep in the farmers fields!

After all that running and exploring, I’m ready for lunch! The adults help me by reading a story or playing music before we wash our hands. I sit with my friends to enjoy a yummy meal from Zebedee’s. I love saying hello to the delivery driver every morning. Sometimes we have food that’s just like what mummy and daddy make at home, and other times I get to try something new. It’s fun to try new things with my friends, we always laugh and tell stories while we eat.

After lunch, some of my friends take a nap, but I’d rather go back outside. I love riding bikes and scooters, climbing, and playing games with the adults. My favourite game is “hot lava,”! Later in the afternoon, the adults surprise us with new activities based on what I enjoy at doing at home or nursery.

By 3 o’clock, I’m ready for tea. I help tidy up, wash my hands, and then sit at the table; I feel proud when I recognise my name on my nursery water bottle. After tea, there’s just enough time for one last bit of playing, I get to choose if I play inside or outside!

Before I know it, my mummy, daddy, or grandparents come to pick me up. They talk to the adults about my day while I share all the fun things I’ve done. Then I grab my coat, wave goodbye to my friends and the adults, and head home for a well-deserved rest.
